Back in the day when I was young, we used to ‘cruise‘ Mill Avenue. We’d tell our parents we going somewhere or another, usually staying the night at someone’s house and troll the shops along Mill. We’d go dance at the under 18 night at Club 411 and then wait in line forever to use the bathroom at The Coffee Plantation. You remember, you know who you are…
Cafe Boa moved down the street. Lotions and Potions remain. Sadly, the Coffee Plantation closed. And thankfully, the site of poor choices for juveniles, Club 411 is now gone as well. But that was all years ago.
We are older now, wiser really, more refined and La Bocca Pizzeria and Wine Bar is more my speed. I am now old enough to drink wine without a Boone’s Farm label and eat pizza from a place that doesn’t have Mart in the name. Who remembers $5 pies from Pizza Mart?
The restaurant is a dimly lit urban respite located at the end of Mill Avenue near 7th Street. Being a fully licensed grown up, I can enjoy La Bocca’s sophisticated atmosphere and extensive selection of wine, great beer on draft and signature crafted cocktails. Menu items are made with locally sourced ingredients and include famous hand-tossed pizzas and bruschetta planks, an assortment of inspired sandwiches, hearty salads, exceptional entrées and decadent desserts. Local Lily VIP readers and locally minded friends have joined here for special occasions and the occasional happy hour.
La Bocca now has a new (relaxed) HAPPY HOUR…everyday from Open to 6:30pm (No longer limited to certain areas)
