The last 6 weeks of holidays have been delicious. Unfortunately they have left me with a food hangover and in need of an easy detox. My favorite french women Mireille recommends that “A detox cure can be as short as half a day and not more than 2 days and is not to be overdone. A detox is not intended to be a compensation for a day or several days of overeating. Rather, it is a way to periodically rid your body of toxins and re-set your dials. Losing a pound or two is an added benefit. French women use a detox such as the Magical Leek Soup twice a year or at the beginning of each season. Think of it as something to be incorporated not more than once a quarter.” You can read her full article HERE.
In the process of shedding these extra winter lbs we are still planning business lunches and happy hours that can be a challenge to our goals. Here are a few of my favorite local restaurants around the Valley that make detoxing and dining easy and delicious.
24 Carrots Juice (6140 West Chandler Boulevard #2, Chandler, 480-753-4411). More than just a local juice bar, owner Sasha and crew serve a vegan, gluten free, raw and organic menu that is truly delicious. I would put the vegan, gluten free mac-n-cheese with facon up against the real deal any day. Learn about the benefits of juicing at in-shop talks and a juicy email newsletter. Entrees average $10 www.24carrotsjuice.com
Nourish (7147 East Highland Avenue, Scottsdale, 480-684-2233) offers vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. I love the sweet potato and avocado salad. Meat is still on the menu, as are an impressive selection of cocktails. ‘Tis still the season for Ginger & Spice. Spiced rum with orange peel, peppercorns & star anise mixed with organic Agave ginger ale. Entrees start at $10 www.nourish123.com
Tru Food Kitchen (2502 E Camelback Rd # 135 Phoenix, 602-774-3488) combine a beautifully crafted meal full of vegan, gluten free and raw options with an spacious patio at the Biltmore and a warm sunny Arizona afternoon and eating healthy never felt so luxurious. www.truefoodkitchen.com
